Sainsbury's
TtheD Lincolnshire
To be honest,
I found these Sainsbury's Taste the
Difference Lincolnshires hiding in
my sausage stash in the freezer.
Not sure why they were still there,
so before we miss the use by date
completely...
Quite a dark looking sausage in the
raw when they were thawed, perhaps
we should have sampled these when we
initially bought them, however, 88%
pork, breadcrumbs, fresh sage and
dried sage, black pepper, in natural
pork casings, 6 for £2.79 (£2.50 if
you buy 2 packs), sounds good then.
Well they cooked up very well,
nicely browned skins and without
doubt they had a very "sagey" (no,
not saggy) flavour.
A reasonable bite and a succulent
texture agreed, but not what we'd call an
exceptional tasting sausage if
honest owing to the very heavy sage.
This spoiled a good sausage really,
just too heavy from the seasoning
department. Don't get us
wrong, these sausages were, OK, just
a bit bold for us.
In a sausage toad though they would
probably work well, whereas
in a sandwich, not really, and with a daub
of English mustard, a taste overload
to be honest!
Try them yourself if you like heavy
sage of course, but they won't be
something we'll probably purchase
very often....
