Sainsbury's Taste the Difference - Venison & Pork

So keeping with the current "other than pork" adventure, we tried some of those Venison, Red Wine & Pork sausages from Sainsburys...

Very, very meaty and a good chew but extremely sweet and sticky. The red currant jelly just powers it way through and I found it a "tadge" overpowering. The residue from this in the pan blackened quickly.

These sausages are 80% meat in natural casings and when cooked up they do have a pretty firm and solid texture with a "gamey note", but the level of red current flavour hides some of this unfortunately.

Now as we've said before about Sainsbury's sausages we've sampled, please don't get us wrong, they are a well made sausage, and they cook up very well and retain a good succulence, but, these are far too sweet.

Eaten cold the over sweetness and stickiness was still evident and simply detracted from what could have been a good sausage!

Not something we would probably buy again...
