Sainsbury's Taste the Difference - Venison & Pork

So keeping with the current "other than pork" adventure, we tried some of those Venison, Red Wine & Pork sausages from Sainsburys...

Very, very meaty and a good chew but extremely sweet and sticky. The red currant jelly just powers it way through and I found it a "tadge" overpowering. The residue from this in the pan blackened quickly and stuck itself to the outside of the sausages.

These sausages are 80% meat in natural casings and when cooked up they do have a pretty firm and solid texture with a "gamey note", but the level of red current flavour hides this unfortunately.

Now as we've said before about Sainsbury's sausages we've sampled, please don't get us wrong, they are a well made sausage, and they cook up very well and retain a good succulence, but, these are by far too sweet.

Eaten cold the over sweetness and stickiness was still evident and firmly detracted from what could have been a good sausage!

Not something we would probably buy again...
