Churchgate (Old Harlow, Essex) - Harissa

I had to look these up...what the heck is Harissa?  Doh!  OK I'm therefore not the foodie I thought I was.  Good sausages though, smashing taste...

Churchgate now sell a wide range through our local Budgen's store and we picked up a pack of these to try the garlic, onion, chilli, mint, coriander, cumin & cayenne mix!

We've tried and enjoyed many sausages from the Churchgate Sausage Company and these are as usual exceptionally well made and presented. 80% meat with some lovely fresh flavourings in very good quality skins as you would expect.

Cooked up they brown well and the medium texture of the meat makes for a good bite. They are meaty and strongly flavoured with in particular the coriander and chilli producing a smashing taste.  Eaten cold... hmmm... unusual but very nice...

We used the rest of the pack with a sausage and mash.  Now curry sausages in sausage and mash isn't the norm but they worked OK.

Jason Drage of the Churchgate Sausage Company really knows his stuff.  You really should try the HARISSA which you can get from Budgen's, Sawbridgeworth and of coarse the Churchgate Sausage shop at Old Harlow, Essex.
