Tesco
Finest - Duck, Pork & Hoisin
OK novelty
time I suppose! Saw these on the
shelf at our local store and just
couldn't resist.
I'm partial
to the odd duck and hoisin wrap from
Tesco I admit, but to put this into
a sausage may be a banger too far!
However on the bottom line, it
wasn't too over the top I suppose
after all, so I do stand rather
surprised!
I inadvertently binned the
packaging, but from memory these
were 28% duck, 32% pork with spring
onions, hoisin sauce and other
various oriental ingredients...in
natural pork cases.
Cooked up
though noticeably there was a rather
brown sticky residue in the pan,
which would probably be the hoisin
and it did stick to the sausage
skins a bit heavily and had to be
scraped off, but the aroma, well,
just like "crispy duck and
pancakes"!
A little weight loss and shrinkage in cooking
agreed, and interestingly near
consistent with the details provided
on the packaging, which we've
noticed now appearing on many Finest
packaged sausages.
Texture wise, rather smooth and the
skins were a tad rubbery to chew.
So what do they taste like?...Well,
(sigh!): "crispy duck and pancakes"!
A well made "novelty" sausage we
suggest...sorry!
There you
go, honest comment! I'd say
from a fun perspective, or where you
wanted to surprise your BBQ guests,
they're
worth a try...but with sausage and
mash as we did...no!
