JW Sargeant (Kings Lynn) - Pork & Bacon

In the bag of lovely free sausages for tasting dropped off by our friends from Kings Lynn there were some other varieties for us to sample...we're going in...

As we've said many times before please don't get concerned that we obtained these sausages free of charge and as a "pressie" from our friends, our reviews are all ways honest and a true reflection of what we think of the produce.

In the raw 70%+ we'd say and proper Norfolk Free Range pork in natural skins.  Quite a bit of bacon in them though which did add a significant salty taste which the troops commented on as being "too porky"!  I was just about Ok with them as it happens, but I agree the saltiness was perhaps a little over done.

Shame really as these are a very well made OK sausage from Sargeants with a texture being on the courser side which I prefer, but the taste wasn't to everyone's liking.  The level of salt was a bit of a problem.  Quite a bit of shrikage and weight loss too which we suspect was the bacon losing moisture and oil in to the pan.

In a sausage casserole or similar with big vegetables, I'm sure these would work very well, but with the old sausage and mash, or just in a bread roll, not so in our opinion I'm afraid .

If you were to try these yourself, why not let us know what you think?

Would we buy ourselves? Probably not.
