J Phillips (Theydon Bois) - Pork & Leek

Theydon Bois village gets visited quite often by us on business so the temptation to call in to both the very good butchers shops located very near each other for sausages is ever there...

This time we are sampling some Pork & Leek sausages from J Phillips on Coppice Row, Theydon Bois, Essex.  

75+% meat at least we're sure in good quality natural casings.  They look very good in the raw I'm sure you'll agree. (That's the sausages, not the butchers!)

Cooked up, they were very good. Succulent and smooth to medium textured. An excellent bite and chew, and the flavour was as it should be as far as I'm concerned.

Ok quite a bit of weight loss though, and agreed the taste was quite "meaty" which a couple of the girlies commented on that they didn't like, but come on, pork and leek? Good leek taste, yes? Ho hum, it's a democracy I suppose so I'm afraid the scoring reflects this.

Now don't get us wrong these are very good Pork & Leek sausages and would be worth trying for sure.

130x30mm before cooking, 120x30mm after.
85g before cooking, 69g after.
That's a shrinkage of approx 7% & weight loss of approx 18%.
