Jimmy's Farm (Wherstead) - Steak & Chilli

Just off of the A14 junction 56, then only a few hundred metres on towards Wherstead / Manningtree, you see the signs for Jimmy's Farm.  Good place to have some lunch and perhaps buy some sausages then?

We did just that and bought some very good looking taster sausage packs each with a kilo of 6 different flavours (£10 for 6x3 sausages).

The Steak & Chilli sausages were part of one the taster packs.  We'd think there was a fairly high percentage beef in these particular examples from the cooked samples but the taster pack labelling unfortunately didn't have any detail.

Cooking up, the sausages firmed well and yet retained a fair amount of succulence which we liked.  Beef sausages tend to have that it's a "burger in a sausage skin" flavour, but with the good amount of chilli in the mix, this helped dispel that.

Taste-wise very good, and yes the chilli gives the lips a tingle, with cups of tea afterwards having no taste, but these sausages are really worth trying...

Eaten later when cold, the chilli flavour is still there but reduced, yet they still have a very good taste.

As with some of the other Jimmy's Farm sausages, these are a very good, well made sausage, we all agreed.

Would we buy again?  Too right we would...

Jimmy's Farm (Wherstead) - Steak & Chilli
(May 2015)

Here's the sample details:
110x28mm before cooking, 105x30mm after.
76g before cooking, 67g after.
That's a shrinkage of approx 4% & weight loss of approx 12%.
6 loose sausages would be approx £4.20  (assuming £10.00/kg)
