Gt Garnetts
(Dunmow) - Traditional Pork
Gt Garnetts
supply pork to some well known
butchers and sausage producers
locally, so calling in to the farm
itself to pick-up and try some of
their own produce was a real treat!
The free
range pork comes from Gt Garnetts
own herds where a commitment to
stockmanship, welfare and animal
husbandry of the highest standards
is exercised. In fact Gt Garnetts
have been awarded recently the Great
Taste Award Gold Medal for their
pork. Additionally the Best Essex
Produce in the 2012 Essex Life Fine
Food and Drink Awards too.
We're told that these particular
sausages which are a good seller,
have a minimum of 65% pork, and do
have some bread in the mix rather
than rusk, but not just any bread
though! Dorringtons, a very
well known quality local baker
supplies the bread crumbs.
Cooked up they browned nicely and
produced an open texture that was
quite succulent as it happens but a
tad "bready" for me personally.
Quite crumbly if we're being honest,
but the flavour did have a very good
peppery edge incidentally.
We tried these both pan fried and
oven baked, with both methods
producing a really good tasting
result.
Definitely worth a visit to buy a
few if your over that way.
