Gog Magog
Hills - Stapleford Classic
On a recent
business trip to Cambridge I called
in to the Gog Magog Hills farm shop for a
look see and
found a really interesting array of
foodie stuffs including some very
good looking sausages...
So here's a bit of background info
if you're interested. Gog Magog
Hills is a long established family
business operating a Shop and
Butchery, a Deli and a Cafe.
Incidentally in 2012 they were named
runner up in the Butchers Shop of
the Year awards and runner up in the
2012 Observer Best Independent Food
Retailer competition. Then the
following year Gog Magog Hills do it
again and are named runner up in the
2013 Observer Best Independent Food
Retailer competition.
Now the Stapleford Classic, quite an OK sausage we thought. 67%
meat in natural cases.
Cooked up very well with a good colour
and smooth to medium texture.
Rather mild though in flavour.
Minimum shrinkage and weight loss.
Bite and chew not bad at all.
However at £8.88/Kg we're in premium
sausage territory but we didn't
unfortunately get excited with
these.
Now don't get us wrong, these are
very well made. Why not call
in to the farm shop and pickup some
yourself to try, and then let us
know what you think.
