Bob's Family Butchers (Hatfield) - Old English

After the "surprise sausages" from Bob's we just had to try some real proper job ones.  Presenting then, the Old English!

As we've said previously, Bobs Family Butchers is now run by Mark Burley since taking over the Hatfield based butchers shop from the retired Bob some three years ago. Wed got to hear of it from a couple of sources so I made a point to pop over and have a look see. Mark has kept the original name as a lot of his regulars still recognise and refer to the local butchers as Bobs, so why change it? Good point.

Like the other varieties that Mark produces the makings here are all from good quality ingredients, with 80%+ meat content in quality natural skins, hand tied and presented with care.

Now these did cook up well, and tasted very nice.  Just enough herbs and spice without being over the top, and a bite that was just as good.  Mark can make a very good sausage.

Texture-wise we'd say just under medium, with enough succulence to make for a very nice moreish sausage.  Minimum shrinkage and weight loss, makes for good value too.

Eaten cold they were just as good.  In fact, cut up on sticks Christmas Eve for some guests, they disappeared rapidly. 

Give these a go we'd say.  Proper job.

65g before cooking, 62g after.
That's a shrinkage of approx 4% & weight loss of approx 5%.
