Now my wife calls it obsessive behaviour, but I don't when it comes to hunting out new varieties of sausage. We're on a mission after all, "So what have you got today for sale my good man?"
We picked
up some
interesting Pork, Chilli & Garlic,
and some Pork & Apple (about which we'll do
separately) for a very good sale
price, and in to the carrier bag
they went.
The plan was to use these for a BBQ
as I wanted to get the troops and
others feedback on them. They cooked
up well and were pretty good in a
roll with "summer slaw" dressing,
washed down with a glass of Doom
Bar. Blimey though, hot little
"what-sits".
The
labelling indicated 52% pork, 10%
pork fat, pork rind, chilli powder &
garlic powder,
some soya flour and soya protein plus
plenty of E's, yes OK perhaps not the
makings of a premium sausage agreed,
but at "today's sale price" of £5.00 for a
14 sausage 859g pack, what do you expect!
The texture was a tad on the smooth
/ soft side, quite moist, not a bad
chew with a good tingle of chilli,
although the garlic was a bit lost.
The natural skins did brown
nicely, a few minor
splits but none of that annoying
creamy stuff leaking out which does
make a change. Minimal
shrinkage and weight loss...
Eaten cold later, the chilli tingle
was still there...
The feedback from the troops was
"they'll do"...hmm positive then.
Mind you granddad said they were a
bit too much for him...
