Must say that
there's a good selection of different flavoured
sausages on offer which are all
pre-packed of course, but like we
have said previously they all look
very tidy. What caught my eye
was a sticker indicating "Gold Award
Winner British Sausage Week 2015".
Also seeing a Red Tractor and
Freedom Food mark on the pack is
always a positive too.
These particular sausages are 80%
outdoor reared 100% British pork
with breadcrumbs, tomato, honey,
garlic, chipotle chilli, jalapeno
pepper and seasonings all loaded in
to natural pork casings/skins.
Cooked up
the skins browned very well,
thankfully with none of that pale ooze in the
pan which we saw before with the
Lincolnshires. Frankly the
texture was excellent at medium with
bits of chilli evident in the slice
and cut. Taste-wise though we
found them a tad too sweet for us.
Perhaps the 2% honey and demerara
sugar quantities Aldi's makers use
in the mix might perhaps need a
revisit?
These sausages had a very good
bite and good chew, with a good buzz
of chilli. It was just the
over sweetness that spoiled for us
what could have been a stunner of a
sausage!
We did notice considerable weight
loss though! However
price-wise very
very reasonable even given the
weight loss in cooking issue.
Eaten cold later on, a bit sticky
sweet...hmm?
Would we buy again...yes for the
summer barbeque, for sure.
It would be worth adding that we
tried to find out more information
with general internet searches about
the "Gold Award Winner British
Sausage Week 2015" sticker but
strangely failed to gain any more
knowledge on this. Hmm?
Perhaps if you can help us on this,
please let us know...
