Sausage Review - we review sausages

Sweetland's of Dunmow have delighted us with some really good sausages in the past and as a bit of a catch up we were over at Gt Dunmow recently and thought we'd call in to the shop again..

It has been some years since last we visited and it seems the shop has not changed at all...

So what to try next?  The "Traditional Pork" will do nicely please.  Sausages are still made on the premises at Dunmow we are told and contain at least 75% pork meat that's sourced from a multi award winning local pork supplier at Great Garnetts and, all stuffed in to good natural casings too...so what's not to like then?

Yet another very good looking raw sausage. So cooked up the aroma coming from the pan was lovely and they tasted great. We did suffer split or two yet again unfortunately which spoils the presentation but that aside, the taste was good. One of the team wasn't as impressed with these as compared to previous samples though. The texture was medium to course and did give a reasonable bite and chew, but it was felt that the sausage was a tad on the soft side. The skins were crispy though which was a plus for sure. Shrinkage and weight loss was also minimal compared to previous samplings.

OK hands up! We did drop off unfortunately having bought quite a few items together I didn't ask for a breakdown and completely forgot to get prices on these. I will drop by no doubt again soon and I will sort this.

Yes a tasty succulent sausage which I'm sure you would like, and as we've said before, if you are ever in Dunmow and call in to Sweetlands to buy some, tell them Sausage Review made the suggestion!

100x30mm before cooking, 100x28mm after.
64g before cooking, 54g after.
That's a shrinkage of approx 7% & weight loss of approx 15%.
