EW Revett
(Wickham Market) - Pork
After
receiving an email suggestion from
Rachel of Halesworth, and then
another recommendation later in
conversation with a friends son, we
thought a visit to Wickham Market
would be most appropriate!
Wickham
Market is just of the A12 between
Woodbridge and Saxmundham in
Suffolk. We've driven past on route
to granny's many times. The
butchers shop is right in the market
place and is very easy to find with
it's bright red awning. Parking
however was a bit of a drag, but
with a bit of patience we got a
space opposite. EW Revett &
Son's shop has a butchery section
and a very nice looking deli section
too.
Now here's the gripe. I was the only
customer in the shop and I bowled in
said hello, asked for 6 pork
sausages, tried to engage in
conversation with the young butcher
behind the counter without success,
all he said was the price. Not what
I would call a great shopping
experience!
However the sausages themselves
looked super, hanging in their
strings off the hook, so let's hope
they make up for that...
So, cooked up these I would say were
70%+ pork (I will call in again to
confirm this) and I'm pleased to say
looked the business. Nicely
browned natural skins, no splits,
just about medium texture, succulent
with a slight crumbliness, good
taste, and the bite and chew were
very good. Now the flavour was
a tad mild for me personally but the
ladies here liked them...so let's
ignore the earlier gripe shall we...
Rachel of Halesworth...good call!
Definitely worth a visit to buy a
few if your over that way. Good
value too!
