Lloyds
(Bishop's Stortford) - Red Dragon
M Lloyds &
Son at Market Square, Bishop's
Stortford are a traditional high
street family butchers. The shop is
just up the road from us, so it's
about time we paid them a visit...
We're told that the Lloyds family
have taken over the management of
the old Burtons butchers shop, and a
couple of "Stortford" people we know
said that we "really needed" to try
the sausages! We like a chilli
sausage or two here we do! So
sampling a "Red Dragon" from their
very nice window display became the
order of the day.
In the raw these 70%+ meat content sausages look
pretty good, but they're not very
red commented one of the younger troups! Hmm...it's worrying!
Now we've
tried various chilli laced sausages,
and these do have a good chilli
flavour, but the excellent taste
unlike some we've tried, was well
rounded and not at all stinging lips
and heart burn later! Mind you
the cup of tea afterwards was
unable to be tasted properly!
Texture-wise these came out medium
and did retain a succulence and a
good chew. The natural skins made
for a good bite too.
We tried these pan fried and
oven baked, with both methods
producing a really good hot and
tasty
result that you really should try at
least once. We're up for
getting to get some more to create a
"sausage toad with a difference"!
I'll get the prices next time too. (Doh!)
