Grangeworth
(Woodbridge) - Venison & Cranberry
There's a
farm shop just north of Puckeridge
and west of Braughing on the A10
that's really worth a visit! I
think it's called Pearce's. I'm
pretty sure it was there we sourced
the very nice Venison & Cranberry's
made by Grangeworth Traditional Farm
Foods.
Well to be
truthful we have had these in the
freezer for a while. I do recall buying
them but now I think about it I'm not entirely sure it
was from Pearce's! Never the less, what
a find.
80% venison meat and cranberries, in
very good skins. Cooked up not
too sweet and sticky, but very meaty
all the same. Succulent yet
firm, a proper good bite and
chew, I'm told. Hmm... I will
explain... Some friends called over
one evening and we laid on a small
feast which included a few varieties
of sausage (well we're quite well
known now for sausages here,
surprise, surprise) and these
particular venison ones went down
very well with our guests. So well
in fact they wolfed the lot before I
could get a look in!
Their feedback was totally unbiased
with them all agreeing that what
they
had tried here was a really good
product and probably the best
venison sausage they'd
tried to date. I was unable to
contribute to the marking so our
guests offered the score. (Note to
self: buy some more to try)
I just hope it was Pearces Farm Shop
we got these from as I gave our
friends hand drawn directions of how
to get over there...
