Sausage Competition at Maldon, Essex

August 2012

The second annual competition to find the best sausages in the county of Essex was held on Sunday 5th August at The OAKHouse, Maldon High Street, courtesy of John Linton, and was promoted by the East Essex Smallholders Group. 

All sausages were cooked by Chef Ryan and then blind tasted at the open public event by 38 non-professional tasters.

East Essex Smallholders and The OAKHouse, Maldon announced the winners of the 2012 Maldon Best of British Sausage Awards as follows:

1st - Meatline, West Station Road, Maldon CM9 6TW  (2nd place last year 2011)
2nd - AG Smith, Plantation Road, Boreham CM3 3DZ
3rd - Jenkins Farm, Stisted CM77 8AF

The winners were congratulated on a very close contest and all three will be put forward to the National Best of British Awards Other producers invited to showcase their sausages at the event included:
