DeliCulture - Bratwurst

OK yes, not the best choice of sausage we've ever made I suppose but having tasted some really good locally made bratwurst, I was keen to try what seemed an "authentic" offering from Germany!

The Churchgate Sausage Company's bratwurst we tried recently was very good agreed, so we picked up a pack of DeliCulture German Brats from our local Sainsbury's "just to compare" of coarse.  I should have known really that if you only pay a couple of quid for a 540g pack of six, the quality of product is not really going to be there, well is it?

The packaging indicated that these were pre-cooked so they only needed heating through really.  We chose to fry them off.  Now they certainly looked OK and browned well, but the pork meat was very pale, close and dense in texture and rubbery to the bite.  The skins were OK too but you could tell immediately from the first bite that these were in no way near the quality sausages that we're normally used to.

Smothered in mustard would perhaps do them a favour...

We were not particularly impressed but if we're honest they were not the worst we've ever tried.  Certainly not something we'd buy again.
